For some people, the Synagogue Prayer Service can certainly be an intimidating and uncomfortable experience. Those who are not familiar with the flow and structure of the synagogue prayer services may avoid going to the synagogue. Many people want to visit and enjoy the synagogue services but are hesitant to do so because they feel out of place or embarrassed at their inability to participate in the services.
The purpose of this learning program is to help you:
- Become more comfortable and confident reciting the Silent Prayer in the synagogue in Hebrew and;
- To enable you to participate in the synagogue services and to make Jewish Prayer more meaningful.
In this learning program you will learn to recite the Hebrew prayers, also known as the Shemoneh Esreh with ease and confidence.
In order to make the learning process more manageable, each prayer is recorded separately. The Hebrew words are pronounced slowly and clearly. You’ll have an opportunity to practice each prayer at your own pace, repeat it as often as you like and move on to the next prayer when you’re ready to do so.
Learning the prayers in Hebrew is a lot like learning a new song: The more often you hear it, the easier it becomes to remember and repeat the words. Along with the audio lessons, you’ll also receive a written copy of the Shemoneh Esrei prayers which contain:
- The prayers in Hebrew,
- Hebrew transliteration of the prayers and;
- English translation
You do not have to feel left out during the synagogue services. You can learn to recite the Shemoneh Esrei in Hebrew with confidence by practicing just a few minutes a day.
